Chick Ages 50 Years Overnight

SHE'S only 26 years old but she looks at least 76.

Doctors have been left dumbfounded by this curious case of ageing - except this isn't a Hollywood film and she's not gradually looking younger.

Vietnamese woman Nguyen Thi Phuong claims a skin affliction dramatically changed her appearance over the course of a few days in 2008 when she was 23.

She steadfastly believes a bad reaction to seafood led to the medical mystery and doctors think perhaps extensive use of traditional medicine is to blame.

Her skin began to sag and fold, leaving her looking like a woman well beyond her years, after taking medicine to overcome a seafood allergy in 2008.

Ms Nguyen's husband has stood by her side and says he he still loves her as much as the day they met.

"I married Phuong when she was a beautiful woman. I have followed her through her disease and have never been shocked at all," he said.

"It's not easy to talk about one's own marital affairs. Just simply understand that I still love her very much."

What could she be suffering from?

- Lipodystrophy Fat beneath the skin fades away while skin on the surface ages rapidly.

- Cushing's Syndrome Caused by extremely high levels of cortisol.
