Man Hides From Police For 13 Years ON TV

A MAN who has appeared in more than 30 television shows has been arrested over the assault of a police officer 13 years ago.

Ji Siguang was seized by police during filming for the new series Shaolin Tigers, The Guardian reported.

He is accused of assaulting a police officer and taking his gun in a 1998 street robbery in Qiqihar.

Mr Siguang reportedly told police he had been too frightened to watch his own performances because he was afraid he would be recognised.

The 39-year-old has been acting under the screen name Zhang Guofeng and appears to have been arrested after a tip off from an informant rather than police scrutiny of primetime TV.

According to the Guangzhou Daily, Ji confessed to police, saying he had moved from city to city before settling in Jinhua, eastern Zhejiang province, where he was eventually captured.

He says he initially found work as an extra at Hengdian World Studios, China's biggest film-making base before working up to larger roles.

Another fugitive, music teacher Wu Gang, was arrested earlier this year over a 1999 murder after a viewer alerted police to his appearance on a dating show.
