Battlefield 3 Tournament

In partnership with Virgin Gaming, DICE has announced a massive Battlefield 3 tournament for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

According to Virgin Gaming's official site, the competition is called The Worldwide Conquest Tournament and is the largest online console game tournament ever. $1.6 million in cash and prizes will be awarded.

"We're always looking to raise the bar for our members, to give them truly epic gaming experiences they won't find anywhere else and Battlefield 3 hits the mark," said Zachary Zeldin, Co-Founder of Virgin Gaming. "This partnership with EA and DICE is exactly the kind of relationship it takes to deliver on that goal, and we can't be more excited to be working with them to host the greatest competitive gaming event I've ever seen."

Pre-registration is currently open, and the tournament will begin in early 2012.

"The Battlefield series has always been a very social experience with its best-in-class multiplayer gameplay and we're honored to have such passionate and loyal fans," said DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson. "We want to give them the best Battlefield experience we've ever created with Battlefield 3. The Worldwide Conquest Tournament with Virgin Gaming is a great way to celebrate the gameplay and reward our fans."

Battlefield 3's beta began today for customers who pre-ordered on Origin and will expand to all players on September 29th. The game hits stores for consoles and PC on October 25th.

Most of my mates are getting it on the Xbox 360, so yes, I'll be getting it on that. PC version will just have to wait.

Awesome. 360 here too. I'd love to get the PC version but ever since I got my macbook pro my GF and mom stole my PC

All I used to play last winter was Madden 11 and Halo 3 ODST...So I sold it when I got sick of em lol
