Hip-Hop Anonymous
Tue 17 Dec 2013 - 10:32
Shout out to AlwaysRaw for the name. I decided to make this thread with the help of Jeet, hopefully we can get people active in this as well. It's sort of like a book club. A book club, they choose a book, read it over the course of a week and then discuss the book and their thoughts on it. This will be like that only with Hip-Hop albums.
Rules:
1. Each album will be chosen at random, everybody participating will suggest 1 album, all the albums suggested will be put in a random generator, and the chosen album will be discussed.
2. No stupid album choices please, I know someone will want to try and be funny by suggesting some ridiculous album, we want to try and explore some really good Hip-Hop that otherwise not many may have heard or known about. If you try and be funny by doing this, you will get a warning, then a 24 hour ban. A 3rd time, everyone will decide if you continue to participate.
3. When suggesting an album, post the artist and name of the album.
(Would prefer albums that even you haven't listened to, but not always necessary.)
4. Old albums can be selected, but we'd prefer not to overdo that, especially with albums that every one has probably heard.
5. OP will be updated every 4 days with the chosen album so people don't have to fumble through posts to find which album to listen to.
6. 4 days is the limit to listen to and discuss each album.
7. If someone posts an album you can't find a DL/Stream to, then PM the person who posted the album for a link.
8. No fighting, bashing, or any other form of hate towards other members. Let's be civil in this thread people.
9. Have fun and enjoy!
ADDED RULE: Once an album is chosen, no more voting for albums until the discussion on the current album is finished. The point of this thread was to get everyone to listen to different music and discuss it. If you're not going to talk at all about the album being reviewed, then leave the thread. There are other categories on the forum to talk about anything you want.
MODERATORS of this Thread:
Frankie
Jeet
They will enforce the rules when necessary, I know we have other mods on the forums, if they are participating in the thread or feel it necessary to enforce the rules when needed, that is their right to do so.

Ok so for the first album, everybody participating will comment ONE album they think should be discussed. Everyone will have 24 hours, should be a sufficient amount of time.

Yeah from what I've heard so far, 9th Wonder is at the forefront of the album. Buckshot comes in quick on the songs (no intro/hook opening the song) he just starts rapping right away. The beats compliment compliment Buckshot's flow but at times also override him.

I agree 9th definitely shines on this album but Buckshot held his own. Hes not a crazy lyricist but hes got some dope punchlines and really nice rhymes. The hook on Now A Dayz is dope af, but i like how most of the album isn't hooks just a sample looped.
Favorite track: Food For Thought
I don't like how the first 9 tracks have no features and then the last 5 all have features. That shouldve been sequenced differently
