Limbo *Indie PSN Game* Sells 1 Million.
Fri 11 Nov 2011 - 19:51
Foreboding and creepy monochrome puzzling platformer Limbo has managed to break the 1 million milestone, developer Playdead has announced today. That's across 153 countries in 9 different languages on all 3 platforms, and the success that the Danish developer has had with Limbo is enabling expansion of its independence.
Playdead has now acquired the company from its early investors, which means that the dev will be entirely self-sufficient as it prepares to finance and develop its next game. Shifting a million copies of Limbo is a hell of an achievement, and an impressive performance for the PSN title.
"With the success that Limbo has achieved, we felt this was the ideal time to fully regain our independence,” explained Dino Patti, Playdead CEO. “We are grateful to everyone who supported us over the past few years, and look forward to forging new partnerships that will both let us reach new heights as a studio and give our director, Arnt Jensen, room to grow creatively.”
Limbo is still available on the PlayStation Network for $14.99. Obviously.
