I always wanted to take this topic up I now do:

Is dizzy independent? He signed with FV. He signed a fucking label, that is not independent imo. The name of the label does not matter in my head. Hopsin & SwizZz started FV (+dame) and they are indie but Jarren & Dizzy aren't? Are they?

According to this your independet as long as you are not signed to a major.

Artist off of majors are considered Indie, they even call some labels "Indie record labels" probably because they are more self dependent than the big ones which have many investors and secured radio play amongst other "advantages"
