Swedish police bust Justin Bieber tour bus
Fri 26 Apr 2013 - 3:41
JUSTIN Bieber's clean-cut image has taken another battering with Swedish police discovering drugs and a stun gun on his tour bus.
Police in Stockholm sent the drugs for analysis after raiding the empty bus following reports of a smell of marijuana. They have not made any arrests.
The bus was searched while the 19-year-old pop star was performing on stage at the Globen arena during the latest stop on a world tour that has lurched from mishap to misadventure, much in the way that used to be expected of pop stars on the road.
That was before the careful packaging of wholesome starlets for the teen market and the creation of the "Beliebers", the quasi cult of fans into which the star memorably attempted to co-opt Anne Frank during a stopover in Amsterdam.
Lars Bystrom, a Stockholm police spokesman, said: "We conducted a search of Justin Bieber's bus and found a small amount of drugs."
Officers in charge of security around the Grand Hotel where Bieber was staying reported a strong odour of marijuana wafting from the bus before the singer and his entourage left for the concert venue. They then contacted the Stockholm police drug squad, Mr Bystrom said.
Like any teenager travelling around the cities of Europe and partying every night, Bieber's world tour has not been without incident.
The patience of Beliebers was sorely tested by his arrival two hours late on stage at the O2 Arena in London on March 4 when some of his younger fans had already fallen asleep in their seats or been collected by their parents.
On March 7 he left the stage mid-song and was given oxygen after fainting backstage at the O2. He was also recorded on video having a sweary shouting match with a paparazzo.
Bieber's monkey, Mally, was seized by customs officers at Munich airport because it lacked a travel health certificate. Back in Los Angeles Bieber became involved in an argument with a neighbour who complained that he allegedly drove a Ferrari too fast.
Then came Bieber's moving inscription in the visitors' book at the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam after he learnt about the diary kept by the teenager, who died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945. "Truly inspiring to be able to come here," he wrote. "Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber."
Bieber, who arrived in Helsinki on Thursday night for a concert in the Finnish capital, tweeted: "Some of the rumours about me ... where do people even get this stuff. whatever ... back to the music."
