Hopsin's Top 5 Worst Career Moves
Tue 9 Apr 2013 - 22:35
This forum has been really inactive lately (For obvious reasons), so I thought I would post an original thread that will hopefully spark some debate. Here it goes:
5. Collabing with ICP
Lets face it, Hopsin has collabed with some really terrible artists in the past. But they were all paid collabs and Hopsin needed the money, so it was understandable. For some reason Hopsin decided to collab with ICP even though he knew they were whack. I've seen people use this song on various occasions to support their statement that Hopsin is a whack rapper. The beat really restrained him and therefore, he wasn't able to show off his skills on this track. This resulted in one of the worst Hopsin verses he's ever done. Even Tech N9ne couldn't make something good out of this beat and delivered a below average verse compared to his standards.
4. Featuring Cryptic Wisdom on "I'm Not Crazy"
I actually think Cryptic Wisdom is a talented artist/rapper, but his verse just didn't belong on this song at all. How many times have you listened to this song and skipped Cryptic's verse completely? I know I have a lot (Almost every time). The 1st verse from Hopsin was great and one of his best, but then Cryptic Wisdom delivers a verse after that isn't even comparable. After that, SwizZz delivers one of his best verses ever. This song would have easily been a Top 5 RAW song if Hopsin would have done two verses and left Cryptic out of it which ultimately would have made the album even better.
3. Making up with Novi Novak
Many of Hopsin's fans (including the bandwagoners) were furious when they saw that Hopsin made up with the rapper they hated most (along with Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy). Personally, I thought it wasn't that big of a deal, but many fans thought otherwise and even trashed him for it.
2. Releasing/rushing Hop Madness
When he released this song (Just the audio), I thought it was a joke and just thought he was trolling his fans. But no, it was actually his first single for the biggest album of his career. Not only was the song bad, but the music video was bad as well. It was extremely corny and Hopsin has even said that he regrets releasing it so fast. He has said that he doesn't even like watching the music video because he gets embarrassed. After hearing the reactions from the fans, he decided the take the song off of Knock Madness all together. The whole song and video felt really rushed and it showed. I would take any song on RAW over this one any day. I'm not saying it's the worst song ever, but it's not even close to what I was expecting from Hop, especially for a first single.
Even the picture looks and feels rushed
1. Delaying Knock Madness (Multiple Times)
This is definitely the number one worst career move Hopsin has ever made. I can't even remember how many times he has delayed this album and said that it was "coming soon." This is undoubtedly the most important project Hopsin will ever release. This is the album that will either jump start his career or hold it back. That is probably one of the main reasons why it has taken this long. 3 years to release an album is ridiculous and especially this early in his career. Hopefully this album does get released this year and doesn't get pushed back until 2014.

To me Hop Madness is not wack, first like times I heard it, ya it fucking hated it, but ever since I've now liked it. I do agree with the collabs thing. I dont care about Novi Novak. Knock Madness was delayed but not like as many times as you exaggerate it. He never said it was ever almost done until recently, he just says he has been working on it and it has been taking a while. He has given us a lot more information about it's status ever since he came off his tour since before, so I do believe its droping 3rd/4th quarter of this year.

He said it would be released in September of 2011, then changed it to early 2012, then changed it to "Knocktember," then changed it again. And that's just off the top of my head. This album has been delayed and put off way too much in my opinion.

ICP Collab - Hated it Fuck ICP and I'm not sayin' this cuz I'm an Eminem dick rider cuz I'm not. Plus real fans should know they squashed their beef, but I still think ICP is fucking stupid.
Cryptic Wisdom Verse - I didn't like it and I always skip it, but I don't think it's one of his worst career moves
Novi Novak beef - I don't really give a fuck if they settled their beef. I just don't want Hop to collab with him. A lot of people were worrying about that as soon as the beef settled, but I know for sure Hop wouldn't collab with someone like him right now based on how much fans he has gotten these past 6 months.
Hop Madness - Song isn't as bad as people say. I actually like it, but I don't think that was a good song to start off Knock Madness. He should've released something that started controversy. I love controversy.
Knock Madness - I don't really care how long it takes, as long as the final product is good. I feel that there are a lot of fans who want Hopsin to hurry up with Knock Madness. He can drop Knock Madness next year in summer for all I care. I just want really good content, BUT that doesn't mean that I don't want to hear a song from him while he's making Knock Madness. I still want to hear Hopsin collabs from FV and outside also. I think he should also put 1 single from the album like every 2 - 3 months, you know just so we could get some songs, not just verses from collabs. Plus I want him to release the Travis Barker EP before Knock Madness. Just to create some buzz.

he's just changed...that's what it comes down to for me
it's not that it's a bad thing, but he's just going down a route as an artist that i don't really dig. i'll probably still listen to Knock Madness...see where it goes from there.

I hear you man, I really think he's changed as well. But it's not necessarily a bad thing. We really haven't heard any new music from him since Ill Mind 5 and that was a good song, so I don't want to judge him prematurely. I think once the Travis Barker EP drops, we'll get a good feel for how good/bad the album is going to be.

But the Travis Barker EP won't really tell us if Knock Madness is going to be good or not because most of the EP's songs probably have a way different production than Knock Madness. So Hop will probably have to rap a little differently than the way he would do in Knock Madness. (Well that's what I think)

It will probably have a different sound, but remember: Travis and Hopsin are both producing this together so it will have beats that Hopsin produced and is comfortable rapping on.

This is what I said about Tyler the Creators Wolf album and I really liked it to be honest. So I'm just doing what I will with Knock Madness, trying not getting to hyped up and having average standards for it.BabySmacker wrote:he's just changed...that's what it comes down to for me

Hopsin hasn't made any BAD career moves.
ICP & Cryptic are irrelevant on the scale that he's at.
Hop Madness didn't have A LOT of love, but enough of his fans enjoyed it.
Who the fuck cares about Novi Novak in any way, shape or form?
The delay of Knock Madness has enabled him to keep a buzz going even though he is only releasing (roughly) 1 song a year.
His buzz keeps growing, his demand for shows goes up and the fans want more and more. He hasn't fucked up yet. We can all thank Tomica Wright for providing us with the Hopsin that we have today.

Cryptic Wisdom on Im Not Crazy is not that bad a move? His the worst on the track but I dont think it's that bad.
Making up with Novi wasn't a bad move neither cause nobody gives a fuck bout novi.
hop madness wasnt that bad neither.
worst move
cancel show in copenhagen

Cryptic was more popular than Hop prior to RAW coming out so it made sense to feature him.

None of these are that bad to where it hurts him much at all, but this is just a list of his worst moves SO FAR. Hopsin hasn't made a bad decision that has seriously hurt his career, but to say he hasn't made any bad career moves is just stupid. Every rapper makes bad decisions when it comes to their career, even in the early stages of their career.

Yo the song with cryptic wisdom isn't bad at all and I really hate saying this but neither is the ICP song. Collabs are cool and can help an artist branch out so if anything it HELPED hopsin gain more popularity. This leaves me wondering one thing though...
IS HOPSIN A JUGGALO!?!?! :(

^Fuck, no. I know he said he's got love for them - because they make up some of his fan base - but he's not as far I know.
You've got to wonder how much ICP paid him.
I remember they paid ODB 30,000 just to ramble a few sentences - who wouldn't turn that kind of money down?
Although, in terms of credibility, it hasn't helped.
For example, I remember him posting a status about how he didn't want to collaborate with anymore rappers that talked about Satanic stuff like rape, murder etc. yet he did a song with Brotha Lynch Hung - who actually does it creatively - and of course the local faggots, ICP.
