These two dudes are pretty fuckin raw. Just listened to section 80 and Elmatic back to back and can't really decide. Opinions?

Yeah I know them both and they are both incredibly good but for me I think Kendrick Lamar is better. Elzhi has very good lyrics and flow but he just sounds a little plain and has a bit of a monotone voice. While for me Kendrick Lamar is more unique and his voice is so distinctive which makes him more apealing to listen to cos there's no one thaat reaally sounds like him. Not saying Elzhi is bad at all because he really knows how to rap (my fav song by him is Detroit State of Mind and he literally went in so hard throughout that song but at the same time, since it was all one massive verse it just sounded a little boring.

Lamar is in a completely different league than Elzhi. Kendrick can do whatever Elzhi can with more.
Kendrick is unarguably the best in the game right now. Delivery, lyrics and word-play, flow, content, and appeal. And his choice of beats is great too. He will get big, be on the radio and all that because he's the best. Just like Eminem did. Some people will hate because it's "mainstream" some people will just not get a taste for him. But every rapper will say he's the best and they all know why.
As far as Elzhi. Elmatic is incredible and he is definitely under credited but he's nothing out of the ordinary. Every great rapper has every quality he has. That mixtape let's him shine because he carbon copies the flow and adds his Detroit twist on it. He literally carries Nas' flow on almost all of the songs, just replacing the words. I've checked his other stuff and he brings that gritty Detroit style, but nothing unique to me. Kendrick just has something about him that I've never seen in another rapper. Elzhi's been around for sooo long and he's never going to blow because he's late to the show. If he was solo in the 90's dropping what he makes now, he'd unarguably be one of the best.

This isn't even close for me.
One of the two is a true wordsmith, and gets the absolute most out of his vocabulary each and every time he rhymes on a beat. The other is a benefactor of mysterious hype that came from nowhere, and is an average rapper at best from a textbook standpoint.

For me, yeah. I've been following rap day in and day out, long before he came along. He's got the most potential. I can't think of anyone new that brings more to the table.
