Mother trades her newborn for a truck she then sold for meth and $800

Police are looking for a Florida woman they say traded her newborn baby boy for a 1999 silver Dodge Dakota in January.
Jaimee and Jeremy Brown of Corbin, Kentucky, were arrested yesterday for human trafficking after police said that the newest addition to their family of five was not their own.

The biological grandmother of the child told authorities that Heather Kaminskey, 30, handed over the boy for the Browns' car, which the new mom then sold for $800 and some methamphetamine.

Authorities say that Kaminskey fled Florida when she was nine months pregnant.
She was on the run from meth warrants, police said, and was trying to avoid giving her child up to Florida Social services, who had previously taken away two of her children.

'The child was exchanged just after birth and the transaction for the 1999 silver Dodge Dakota was made,' authorities said.
The Browns have three other biological children and raised the boy as their own for six months.

They told friends and family that the baby was the result of an extramarital affair.

Their friends and family are in disbelief about the human trafficking charges against them.

Richard Haas, a friend of both the couple and the mother, said the trio meant well.
'They had the best interests of the child in mind,' he said to the Associated Press. 'They went about it was the wrong way.'
The Browns plead not guilty to the Class B Felony, which carries penalties of up to 20 years. Their three biological children have been placed with relatives pending the results of the case against them.
