Who really killed hip hop?
Sun 4 Mar 2012 - 2:08
Ive been thinking about this for a while now so i want to hear peoples opinion. Read the whole thing before you comment!
okay well i think we all know that mainstream hip hop has been a pile of shit for years now, but who really is to blame for this? Some people say the artists, the record labels, the media, the illumanti (lol), the promoters, the producers, Etc. In my honest opinion the way i look at it, i would have to say it was the fans. People always speak about how the fuck did we go from lil kim to nicki minaj or 2 pac to lil wayne or common to drake. Its because the same people who complain are 99 percent of the time the same people to buy into that bullshit. I cant blame the artists for the shit music they make because in reality there smart as fuck, i would also make the worst music possible on some lil b shit if i knew that 75 percent of the hip hop community would buy it. Hip hop fans ruined hip hop. people would rather buy a lil wayne album than a method man album. <--- welcome to 2012.
whats your thoughts?

Rich rappers gave up on putting quality in their music knowing most their fans grow into it, then when new artist pop up they imitate that same garbage because most likely they will catch the attention of those fans. Everyone starts growing into what they hear on the radio and get so familiar with it they believe that its good therefore it's easier money.
So I would say the media, laziness, money and gullible fans.
I don't consider Hip Hop dead though, more like corrupted in a way..

The main thing to blame for everything which has been going sour lately is school curriculums. We are teaching children tolerance and that they are ok the way they are. This essentially robs truly intelligent/gifted children of building upon their possibilities and it also aims the less gifted people in a confusing direction which should instead be focused upon learning a trade and becoming a well respected member of society. By scaring everyone from stepping on each others toes and bettering themselves we are making sure doors stay closed for them. This is why every aspect of north America is going downhill and eventually going to burn. You can't expect people to actively decide or care about good content when they are so used to getting their dick sucked by everyone
In conclusion FUCK whoever decided teachers shouldn't be the smartest people on earth

The guys who killed Tupac and Biggie, the guy who sold a burger to Big Pun that increased his weight leading to his death...
Of course I don't mean that literally but they play a big part in it.
Tupac = Relevant, respected and talked about what mattered.
Biggie = Flow that has influenced so many, killer lyrics
Big Pun = Hell of a lyricist and would show todays MC's what complexity is.
I think the media overrating every artist and fans not getting disappointed even though the song sucks, because they like the repetitiveness.
Like Maximus said "Lil Wayne is the Call of Duty of Rap", because most of the concepts are recycled and given different names, but its the same product, slightly altered.
Lack of lyricism and embracing books, to extend vocabulary and intelligence.
It's lack of authenticity and being truthful, so many rappers lie.

Money postponed talent
best way I can explain, I believe hiphop is in a little drought and is about to be taken over by talented rappers, people realized "Hey I can make shitty music and make money", but now people are catching on to them and rappers with lyrical talent are becoming big again....

nobody killed hip hop. lil wayne brought about the death of good mainstream rap/hip hop, but hip hop has been alive...just like we know on this thread, the underground is always housing a ton of untouched talent.

Lil Wayne haven't done shit to hip hop cause it aint him who buy his albums, it aint him who decides what should be played on the radio and it aint god damn wayne who downloads all music for free.

I think the radio is the most cause, the radio controls the hits, but now adays, kids are fucking ratards, making shows like Jearsy shore popular, the youth is dumb as fuck now a days, all that matters to most is a catchy hook.

He proclaimed himself the best rapper alive...and people believed him...i just said he brought it about. when a guy who's a simple punchline rapper rapping about pointless shit considers himself the best alive and people believe him....well...hip hop is not at its highest point.Chokey wrote:Lil Wayne haven't done shit to hip hop cause it aint him who buy his albums, it aint him who decides what should be played on the radio and it aint god damn wayne who downloads all music for free.

Lil Wayne claimed he was the best rapper like 10 years ago...Bunch of little middle school girls fell for it and bought his albums.....He tricked these little girls intentionally....Now he has money for more production....Signs multiple artists....Has gay sex with all of them....Takes over radio stations.
Hip hop aint dead...But seems like Lil Wayne had a master plan from the beginning to try to kill it.
