Snowborder dies after being caught in avalanche

Heavenly Mountain Resort is confirming to News 4 that a 34-year-old snowboarder
died at the resort after losing control at high speed.

The accident happened on Tuesday.

Officials say he went off the California trail at the intersection of Tamarack
return and hit either a tree or sign pole.

Ski patrollers attempted to save the victim from England but he passed away before arriving at
Barton Memorial Hospital.

The skier was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
