I think he's asking if this is real hip hop, because you know how everybody these days thinks REAL hip hop is whoever has shit to say about the hood life and all that bullshit.

There's different types of hip hop...This song was arguably the most influential song helping mold rappers now.

I was playing around and I said this because since this pretty much helped build Hip Hop its technically the concentrated source which is why I added "real".
Kind of like saying 100% orange juice know what I mean?
My bad, I Should have explained better before people jumped to conclusions Lol.

some people even say this ruined the essence of hip-hop.
it was the first "pop" hip-hop song
the people in sugar hill gang were put together by a record producer.
"They were assembled into a group by producer Sylvia Robinson who also founded Sugar Hill Records, along with her husband, the record mogul Joe Robinson."
this song really brought rap out of the NYC boroughs and into the mainstream
----------------------------------------
yeah, ur right hip-hop wasn't about lyrics originally..it was all about MC'ing a party or dance competition over a disco (dance) record... heyyyy.. hoooooeee
people always refer to "real hip-hop", some say it died in 1990 or 1996, 2---........ same thing happened with rock.. every generation wants a new innovative style to call their own

If you wanna take it back further than that to The Last Poets...
last poets' videos
Brilliant. Poignant. Moving. Direct. Unflinching. Relentless.
Now if you want to say that Hip Hop started as a party music, you have to consider some things.
From party, it went to a philosophical, thoughtful, somewhat rebellious music that became a "voice for the voiceless....would you consider that progression in the genre or no?

"in hip-hop we experiment things, because making different types of music with people from different type of genres makes it amazing" - Tech N9ne
