Skydiving or Paragliding Empty Skydiving or Paragliding

Fri 30 Sep 2011 - 3:11
Has anyone here done either? I have done both and would love to get certified in each but that is over $3000 without owning any of the gear.

My first and only skydive was part of the AFF course where the instructors are holding on to you until you pull your rip cord. In my experience it was an intense adrenaline rush. Everyone who just did tandem (where you are strapped to an instructor who has done more than 5000 jumps most likely) seemed to be happier upon landing. Where all the AFF jumpers landing confused and thinking what they could have done better. But the experience was incredible...

Paragliding however was a mellow adrenaline rush, I got 7 1-minute long flights in to work on the fundamentals (taking off, turning, landing...) This is the one I am most interested in finishing first, being it will cost less to get certified. Ironically all the gear probably costs more but then again with just a hill you have the power of flight...

Paragliding is much calmer... I hope to complete the paragliding course before this year is up...

Then I would like to get used to being 10000+ ft Above Sea Level so I could finish the Skydiving Classes with ease...

Donations are welcome and highly appreciated... (I will even give you rep in return HAHA)

Skydiving has about 10 times as many people certified...

But the ability to fly for an hour without a plane interests me more than falling for a minute and then parachuting down for another 5-10

Although you are completely free in that minute...

That would be sick to paragliding...sounds dope, but I'd probably have a heart attack or some shit mid air

It was an adrenaline rush but not nearly as intense as skydiving, like a mellow adrenaline rush...

To learn how to we are on a practice hill where I probably only got 40-45 ft above ground... Just to get the fundamentals... Take off, turning and landing.
