Good desktop for good value?

I made a thread similar to this a while back, but i never went through with it and wanted a laptop. I understand now desktops are the right route to go for what i want, a decent computer that runs fruity loops and similar softwares well. The highest i'll go is about 450, I don't know too much about computers but i can always upgrade it in the future. Also there are a lot of July 4th sales so I might try to hop on those.
