Overly Comparing Rappers to Eminem
Fri 5 Apr 2013 - 21:26
Ok, this is starting to get old. Whether you sound a lot like Eminem or a just little bit, people are almost always going to assume you are biting his style or are a complete rip-off. I really can't understand this, I mean if they can't differentiate noticeable differences there has to be something wrong with their judgement. Yes over comparing happens with other rappers as well but Eminem seems to be the top mentioned (Tech n9ne is getting there too). I know it probably has to do with the fact that shady is one of the most influential rappers of all time; but still the excessive amounts of comparisons are too far-fetched.
I'm sure I am not the only one to notice this happening so often. Do you think that Eminem's style is so distinct that any sudden similarity deserves to be called an imitation?

I'd say this is it. Em is probably one of, if not the most, unique rappers of all time. His style is very accessible, so it's easy to draw comparisonsKing wrote:Do you think that Eminem's style is so distinct that any sudden similarity deserves to be called an imitation?

Yea I figured, it's just amazing how fast any comparison could be made almost just by instinct.

Eminems style itself is a mix of Big L, Cage and Esham.

If we're talking about rappers that would combine Em's style, Cage and Esham would be an afterthought, lol.
