20 Pound Diamond Turns Out To Be Worth $50,000

IT'S like "an episode of Antiques Roadshow".
Imagine you picked out a toy gem for your toddler - only to realise you drastically underpaid for it.
Thea Jourdan bought what she believed to be a cheap and nasty diamond for £20, then accidentally learned her daughter's toy was worth far, far more, the Daily Mail reports.
The flashy stone caught they eye of an insurance expert during a check on Ms Jourdan's engagement ring. It turns out the "toy" was a Russian brooch worth £32,000 ($49,077).
"It’s amazing, I’m absolutely stunned," Ms Jourdan said.
The stone's run as a toy was short-lived and Ms Jourdan put it up for auction. If you fear the toy's been cruelly snatched away from the kid - fear not.
"She is going to be sad the brooch has gone, but we are going to put it in a trust fund for her university fees," she said.
