Rather oddly, Take Two has now issued a more concrete release date for Max Payne 3. In a seperate press release issued after the reveal of the delay, the publisher has confirmed that the game will hit on May 15th in North America and May 18th internationally.

Take Two has announced that Max Payne 3 has been delayed. Previously scheduled for March, the Rockstar game now carries a non-specific May 2012 release date.
"We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly," said Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in a press release. "This short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our company,"
"Max Payne 3 promises to be one of our most exciting releases to date, and we are confident that consumers will once again be amazed by Rockstar's ability to take interactive entertainment to another level."
The move will take Max Payne 3 into the financial year of 2013, meaning that publisher Take Two now expects to report a FY2012 net loss.
More details are expected later today. The new release window brings the game into line with previous high-profile Rockstar releases. Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire hit in the May 2010 and May 2011, respectively.
